Michael is married to Eileen (Kloosterman) Fallon who is the Assistant Dean of Students at Redeemer University College in Ancaster Ontario. Michael and Eileen have two sons, Sean and Simon. Sean  is in his second year at Redeemer UC. Like many students he is taking courses he likes and is hoping to come to some conclusion as to what he wants to do in life. Simon graduated from Hamilton District Christian High this past spring and will spend this coming year working, pondering his future and playing his music. He is releasing his first CD in the near future.

Michael obtained his B.A. in History at Redeemer University College. He received his M.A. from the University of Toronto. During his time at  U.of T., he specialized in Canadian History having a dual focus on Modern Canadian with an emphasis on immigration (his Master’s Thesis was on the Christian Labour Association of Canada) and Early Canadian First Nation’s History.  Michael went on to study for his Ph.D. at the University of Guelph. During his time at Guelph, Michael held the Sir John A. MacDonald Graduate Fellowship in History for three years. Michael’s Ph.D. thesis is entitled: People Of The Covenant: Dutch Reformed Immigration Into Canada After World War II - Ph.D. (2000) Thesis.

When he is not hanging out with students, Michael likes to be with his family. “When I have some down time I just like to be at home doing something with Eileen and the boys. I enjoy it when we are all just sitting around in the family room and Sean and Simon are talking about their day and what is going on in their lives. In the winter, there is nothing more relaxing then being at home, having a good cup of tea and having everyone curled up in their favorite couch or chair in front of the fireplace reading their book.”

When the Fallon’s are away from their Ancaster home, one of their favorite areas to be in Ontario is on the shores of Georgian Bay. “Eileen and I both grew up near the southern shores of the Bay. I grew up playing Georgian Bay Minor Hockey and Lacrosse.” Our region was a big horse shoe stretching from Owen Sound on the western shores of Georgian Bay to Parry Sound on the east side. I still think that the Bay – north south, east or west is still one of the most beautiful areas in Ontario. We have explored many parts of it over the years and there are still places we have not been yet.”

Favorite Fallon family activities are hiking, canoeing or kayaking in the summer and cross-country skiing and dog sledding in the winter. Michael now says he also likes the relaxation that comes with easy going, family car camping. “Usually once or twice a summer we get to just go somewhere and relax and take it easy. When that happens I like the opportunity to just sit and read some novels and go for the daily swim.” Michael’s  favorite family park is Killarney at the northern end of Georgian Bay.
