Janine introducing  Dr. Ruth Groenhout, Calvin College's 2009-2010 `Worldview Lecturer of the year.'

I am in my third year of the Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology program at McMaster. For the first semester of this year I am actually studying at the University of Colima in Mexico on an exchange program through McMaster, taking courses in Political Sciences…Mexican Culture, Political System, International Relations, etc. I don’t really know what I want to do when I graduate in 2010, but I’m interested in some area in the medical field, as well as something where I can use my Spanish. Whatever it is will probably involve more school.

In my free time I enjoy playing sports and running, I play intramural soccer and volleyball and enjoy most other sports as well. In the summer I love camping, canoeing, and hiking, and I do a version of this through my job (treeplanting)…‘camping’ in a tent and ‘hiking’ through fields/forest planting trees, though its not quite as fun. I’m a huge games player…Settlers, Pinochle and Euchre are my favourite, and I love just hanging out with my housemates, friends and family.
I am really excited to be involved with the McMaster Christian Reformed Campus Ministry’s this year. The community of this group on campus is very supportive, and I greatly enjoyed the Thursday night dinners and speakers last year, as well as the Re-Creation Ministries events. It has given me the opportunity to grow spiritually and to meet some amazing people who are able to answer many of my questions regarding faith, stewardship, medicine, etc. I hope that through my involvement this year, I will develop as a leader, learn more about the CRC doctrine, and enrich the ministry and community on campus.
